Marvin
Boris, MD.
Dr.
Marvin Boris has been a practicing pediatrician, allergist
and immunologist for 45 years. As his practice became
more specialized in the treatment of allergy and immunology,
he began to see more and more patients who were diagnosed
as having an autistic spectrum disorder. This led him
to the understanding that autism is an immunological disorder
with a genetic predisposition as well as biochemical bases.
Although
early intervention programs with ABA, speech, physical
and occupational therapies are readily available once
the diagnosis is made, Dr. Boris has learned that without
treatment of the allergic and immunological etiologies,
the autistic symptomatology persists. Since 2001, he has
been involved in the DAN! Protocol. (Defeat Autism Now!).
He evaluates and treats patients on “the autistic
spectrum” using elimination of gluten and casein
from the diet, allergy testing and desensitization, supplements
with vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and digestive
enzymes, and treats intestinal dysbiosis and chelation
of toxic metals. The individual protocols are designed
for each patient depending on results of extensive history,
physical examination and laboratory investigation.
Dr.
Boris graduated Union College (1954) and New York University
Medical School (1958). He did his pediatric residency
and allergy training at the New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center. Since 1963, he has been in a private pediatric,
allergy/immunology practice in Woodbury, NY. He is a diplomate
of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American
Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a member of the
American Academy of Environmental Medicine. Dr. Boris
is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the
New York University School of Medicine.
